Subject: Is this public domain? What are the rights to this??
As far as I can tell, "the Open Mind" is still owned by American Public Television (APT). Does anyone know otherwise??

Hi there. I'm trying to find whom I can contact regarding the use of this video. I tried going to The Open Mind website but no luck. I am a musician and have just completed a new song about world peace, and am in the process of putting together a video to accompany the song, and I would like to ask permission to use no more than a 5 second clip of Martin Luther King from "The New Negro".

I am happy to give proper credit for the use of this clip.

Subject: He Had a Gift
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a gifted man as exhibited by his speach, use of words and mannerism even at this young age!

He knew he was writing history, he died for his cause, this is most commendable!

Subject: Great time capsule
Interesting discussion involving MLK about the state of blacks in America at the time. This is a great time capsule straight out of the 50's. I agree with the other reviewer on here who stated that it is great to see footage of MLK aside from his "I have a dream" speech (which up untill now was the only thing I had seen/heard from him.). I was intriqued by their conversation about white liberals in the south having a reluctance to join the movement even though they secretly supported it.

Subject: I just think is is very nice...
...to have access to some footage of Dr. King sitting down and having a conversation about his views rather than just seeing the "I Have A Dream" speech one more time. Judge Waring's role in the push for desegregation underrated, and is of historic significance as well.

Subject: Racism in America revisited
Shows how current legislation on fair treament of all americans citizens regardless of race was brought about in the 60's. Martin Luther King speaks about the new negro, on how he discovered that he is finally a whole man and not half man, and how the black people demanded all the rights given to all american citizens is also given to them.

Note: Sadly events after 9/11 shows americans in general still tolerate racism and religous bias. It sad to think Martin Luther King gave his life in Vain, it is hoped people who do watch this program can be moved to change their mind on racism and religous bias.
